Why You Need to Take This Class…
This weekend is all about you and your wellness.
A fun and esoteric weekend awaits you, as we delve into the idea of food as medicine; food as energy and cooking to serve the purpose of your life.
With roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, we will explore the concept that there’s more to the food on your plate than the food on your plate.
With lifestyle diseases at epidemic rates, it’s time to look at the real root cause of what ails us. And you’d be right if you guessed that it’s the food we eat.
While not all diseases are created…or managed…or cured by the foods we choose, statistics are staggering:
- 80% of heart disease is preventable with diet and lifestyle changes.
- 9 in 10 type 2 diabetes can be directly linked to food choices.
- 40% of all cancers can be linked to diet and lifestyle.
But it’s not all bad news. Simple lifestyle and diet changes can set you right back on track to living well.
In these 2 exciting days, we will explore the science of the nutrition of eating well, right alongside the principles of Chinese medicine that has driven my work for decades.
You’ll discover how closely the worlds of science and natural medicine align and by the end of the weekend, you’ll have the tools you need to cook with purpose…and deliciously.
Let’s never forget that eating is meant to be enjoyable and delicious as well as nutrient-dense and mindful.
You can have it all…and you’ll see how in this class.
Who Should Take This Class?
If you’re great at cooking, this class is for you.
If you’re new to cooking, this class is for you.
If you’re interested in health and discovering the power of food in your life, this class is for you.
If you hate cooking, this class is definitely for you.
Bottom line…this class is for you!
The Class…
Day One
We begin the weekend at 10:00 AM on Saturday with an orientation followed by a demo class with me, designed to help you understand how I think about food. What we create in the demo class will serve as lunch.
After lunch, it’s lecture time. While my assistants prepare some snacks for the afternoon, we will study the philosophy that drives my cooking, all rooted in macrobiotics and Chinese medicine. We will see how ancient wisdom folds over science to create a deep understanding of food as it serves our lives.
And yes, even dessert serves our lives and wellness.
Day Two
You’ll be cooking today…with purpose. As partners you’ll design a menu of 3 dishes that you want to create to make your lives better, whether creating strength, wellness, better sleep, managing stress, etc.
What you create will serve as our lunch.
After lunch, you’ll be back in the kitchen, but this time, we will give each partner a health condition to cook for…from the ingredients on hand. At the end of class, you’ll present your dishes (2-3 dishes) and your reasoning behind your choices of cooking and techniques.
As we cook, you’ll have recipes to refer to; to base your thinking on; but not to use line for line. This day is designed to get you thinking, not learning how to read a recipe. We will finish the day with a Q & A.
