Unlike most other oils that come from a seed, nut or fruit, Camelina Oil comes from a plant belonging to the crucifer family. Camelina is scientifically shown to date back to the Bronze Age; the 'Tollund Man' was a name given to the remains of a body that was remarkably well preserved in a bog and found in Denmark in 1950. Scientific tests reveal he was likely sacrificed and buried in the bog as some sort of ritual, and that he lived in the 4th century BC. The remnants of his last meal consisted of a porridge of vegetables and camelina seed.

Camelina Oil contains an abundant amount of omega-3 fatty acids. In fact, Ole World Camelina Gold Oil is made up of about 35% omega-3’s. It is relatively low in omega-6 fatty acids, resulting in a favorable omega-3 to omega-6 ratio of 2:1. Unlike other omega-3 oils, Camelina Oil is very unique because it is perfectly suited for an omega-3 supplement and it makes excellent cooking oil.

The monounsaturated fat in the oil provides for a smoke point of 475 degrees. Packed with natural antioxidants (like Vitamin E), Camelina Gold also has a shelf life of 18-24 months.
